Do Facebook “likes” Translate to Sales?

Ad Age recently completed a survey which demonstrated an evolution of marketer’s priorities on Facebook.  While fan acquisition or buying “likes” once was the centerpiece of many Facebook marketing strategies, brands are questioning whether the likes are turning into sales.  So while driving traffic to a website or building “fans” or “likes” was once cited as a top Facebook goal, those numbers have dipped to just 17% of respondents.  Instead, Facebook has been pitching to the world’s biggest consumer marketers that it’s just like TV in its ability to build brand awareness.  And the survey said that 45% of marketers said that brand awareness is now their main goal from Facebook.
